Jonathan Jorissen is a trial lawyer and counselor specializing in complex commercial litigation including warranty, recall, cost-recovery and product-liability disputes.  Mr. Jorissen has negotiated hundreds of terms and conditions in sales contracts and has achieved positive results for some of the world’s leading automotive suppliers in litigation and commercial negotiations.  Mr. Jorissen regularly counsels those suppliers regarding contracts, warranty and recall claims and defenses, “best practices” for pursuing and defending cost-recovery claims, force majeure and commercial impracticability issues, allocation plans and protocols under the UCC, and global supply chain issues. Mr. Jorissen has been named a “Rising Star” in business litigation by Michigan “Super Lawyers” and a “top Lawyer” by Hour Detroit.  He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the Ave Maria School of Law. Before entering private practice, Mr. Jorissen clerked for the Honorable Lawrence P. Zatkoff of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Recent Experience Includes

  • Lead supplier counsel on many “bet-the-company” warranty, recall, termination and program cancellation disputes on behalf of Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers with demands up to several hundred million dollars
  • Supply chain contracting and gap analysis for the purpose of identifying and implementing best practices to mitigate and allocate risk through revised contracts and pro-active supply chain strategies
  • Representation and counseling of suppliers in hundreds of automotive supply chain pricing, duration and quality negotiations and disputes, including stop shipments and TROs
  • National representation of leading tire manufacturers in catastrophic personal injury cases
  • Negotiation and drafting of contract terms and conditions, non-disclosure, and other automotive supply agreements
  • Counseling of automotive suppliers on NHTSA regulations
  • Worked on trial team that secured a $25.7M judgment in action for breach of a supply contract
